Tomas De Rita
Visual artist and Art educator. Born 1976. Lives in Helsinki, Finland.
As an artist, Tomas De Rita often combines old and new technology, sound and light. He is guided by curiosity and his insight often comes from experiments with materials and technology. His audiovisual works are usually colourful, playful and positive. But recently his works have been a bit darker and minimal too. He often works with different kinds of old gear like oscilloscopes, video mixers, CRT monitors, video projectors combined with optics and eurorack video and audio gear. He explores the hidden potential of these in his studio. When performing with his alias Feedbackbackback his hands-on approach and method to experimental veejaying – often involving analog video synthesizers, lights, optics and chains of live camcorder feedback ensure performances both entertaining and unique. De Rita is also part of AV collective Post–Rift and also AV duo called LRXY.
