Anni Arffman

Anni Arffman works across a wide range of disciplines, including painting, site-specific art, and public art. She has also led several community-based art projects and exhibitions.
Anni Arffman was drawn to light art through her work with paper art. She began creating cut-out paper pieces and installations, which only came to life when illuminated from behind. While light and shadow had always played a role in her painting, they now became more tangible. Later, Arffman began experimenting with light using holographic materials and engraved acrylic.
Her latest light art piece was part of the environmental art event Pikinen Poloku: Eternal Spot of Sunlight (2025), where, by looking deeper into the forest, one could notice permanent patches of light on one of the rowan trees.
Anni Arffman works across a wide range of disciplines, including painting, site-specific art, and public art. She has also led several community-based art projects. Her public artworks can be seen at Kajaani Central Hospital, Oulu University Hospital, and Heinätori Daycare in Oulu. Community-based pieces include works at the youth psychiatry outpatient clinic of OYS (Oulu University Hospital).
Arffman has participated in solo & group exhibitions and art events both in Finland and abroad, in museums as well as private galleries.
