Pasi Rauhala: The Wires
The work is a rhythmic discussion in form of abstract wires.
The work features a net which combines and rips. For the source material of the installation, 3D scanned people were captured at different events and demonstrations. Real life people with different opinions and points of view became a powerful visual firework.
The work was originally designed for the Flow Festival and situated in the lobby of Voimala. The Wires played amazingly well together with the techno beats present inside the building. For presenting the work in other spaces, a version of the work has been made with its own soundscape.
The artwork also works as a single-channel vertical projection. The work can be displayed both indoors and outdoors as long as a suitable projection surface is found.
Pasi Rauhala is a media artist with a focus on interactivity, spatiality, and public space. During his 20-year-career he has taught in all the major Finnish art schools and participated in dozens of art productions as an artist, curator, producer, or coordinator. For Rauhala art is a never ending adventure that can lead you anywhere.
