Suvi Saastamoinen: SWart collective: Porisontti

Porisontti is a dynamic visual and audial experience of Pori's landscape.

Porisontti is a collaboration between SWart collective’s artists Suvi Saastamoinen, Anssi Mäkinen, Teo Rinne and composer Tapani Rinne, who composed and produced the artwork’s soundscape. The permanent public artwork has transformed a 90-meter-long tunnel at Pori railway station to an enchanting space, where light and sound are in constant interaction. The abstract horizon line creates changing reflections throughout the tunnel. The soundscape invites passengers to the heart of the space. Soundscape together with the visual composition creates unique spatial experience where one can immerse into the imaginary landscape of Pori. The lighting compositions and sound are tied to the cycle of the seasons. The ambient soundtrack is inspired by Pori and created by wind instruments and electronics. Also, the ambiance of the tunnel changes hourly: the soundscape grows into a dense symphony, while the movement and intensity of the lighting increases. The artwork is a part of Pori Art Museum collection.

Master of Arts (Environmental Art), Landscape Architect, b. 1986, lives in Helsinki, Finland.
