Mauri Kosonen: Water Memory
A public artwork in Turku combing environmental and light art on perforated steel facade.
Water drops make a larger water drop and then transforms into a DNA double-helix. Water Memory is based on the controversial pseudo-science claim that water has memory. In other words – everything that water has met in this planet, from dinosaurs to humans, leaves a memory to water. The artwork was inspired by local children's art competition water color painting. The facade artwork original was also made with water colors and then transformed into perforated steel and to be backlighted with RGBW-led lights to create a three dimensional effect with light. The facility produces steam from water to be used for industrial heating.
