Alexander Salvesen: Light Alignment: Equinox - Solstice

neonlight, acrylic on wood, 2 times 100 x 100 x 20 cm

The artwork is a kind of binary representation of the positions of the Sun and the Earth over the course of one year. Barcode painting on birch plywood. Hand routed barcode on all sides. The barcodes read as following: The circles inside read Vinter, Vår, Sommar and Höst. The barcode around reads either Equinox or Solstice. The neonlight and the rotation of the circular barcode corresponds to the axial tilt of the Earth.
