Anni Laukka: The Last Play

A shadow sculpture made of children’s soft toys from homes hit by bombs in Ukraine.

The Last Play deals with the distress and suffering of children caused by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. The work consists of children’s soft toys collected by the Ukrainian charity Malyn Volonter from homes hit by bombs in Malyn, Morozivka, Mykolaiv and Borodyanka in Ukraine. The work is a part of a series of installations which play with the relation between the material of the work, the soft toys, and the shadows which they create. The toys were collected by the Ukrainian charity specifically for this work and others in the same series.
