Alexander Salvesen: A Bright Future

Analog projection inspired by light pollution and other global problems.

Valoisa tulevaisuus (FI), En ljus framtid (SE)

There is a staggering number of problems in the world. The current conservative right-wing thinking governing politics is hindering the progress towards a better future. The limits to growth were reached long ago, yet the practices remain unchanged. We all know the consequences, but changing lifestyles, consumption habits, and thinking have proven to be extremely difficult on systemic and individual levels.

However, one of the most idiotic of these problems is light pollution. It affects everywhere and everything. Never before in the history of the Earth has the rhythm of night and day been tampered with. Light is now everywhere, even where (and especially where) it shouldn't be. Light pollution increases the likelihood of certain cancers, causing a wide range of health problems from sleep difficulties to obesity and immune system issues. It kills wildlife and cripples the ecosystems. This unnecessary light leads to unnecessary deaths, unnecessary diseases, unnecessary emissions.
